Working with Government

Inclusive growth, the imperative of both the Government of India and NASSCOM Foundation, is actively getting implemented through the IT-BPM industry. Through our programs and industry network, we promote and implement Government policies as well as engage the Government for industry collaborations.

BigBridge: The Foundation helps companies adhere to the government’s e-waste law for environmental protection by assisting them in responsible disposal of e-waste. Since usable computers are refurbished and donated to NGOs, the Foundation is actively working with local Governments to simplify debonding processes for donation purposes.

BigTech: With both national and international IT companies donating their products and services to NGOs across India, the Foundation works closely with the Government to recognize and encourage such strategic philanthropic contributions.

NASSCOM Social Innovation Honours: Through these Honours, the Foundation not only supports the Government to promote social good through technology but also provides a platform to recognize Government departments. Innovation is occurring at all levels!

Business Responsibility Forum: This discussion platform gives the NASSCOM Foundation the background to engage with policies directed towards Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). This is a timely activity with the formalization of CSR through the National Voluntary Guidelines for Social, Economic and Environmental Business Responsibility and the 2012 Companies Bill clause on CSR.

Impact Sourcing: The Foundation is currently working with the Government to incentivize local rural BPM enterprises, frame favorable public policy and develop basic infrastructure that can accelerate the growth of Impact Sourcing and employment of excluded youth.

Disability Initiative: The Foundation is promoting inclusion by encouraging the hiring of persons with disabilities within the industry. This is in line with the commitment to the Disability Act and the UN Convention on Persons with Disabilities that India is signatory to.

MyKartavya: The IT-BPM industry actively participates in the inclusive growth agenda through its employee volunteering programs. The Foundation facilitates this participation and shares these results with relevant Government representatives, most recently in the implementation plans for the 2012 Companies Bill.

ConnectIT: Through IT training of NGO staff and Government officials, the Foundation is facilitating the Government’s IT literacy agenda.

Skills for Employment:The Government has an agenda to skill the 'youth dividend' for the modern, developing economy. NASSCOM Foundation works closely with various divisions to promote this agenda with students, unemployed youth, and adults who've been left out of the 21st century economy.

NASSCOM Knowledge Network: Through this network of telecentres, the Foundation is exploring partnerships with the Common Service Center Scheme (CSC) run by the Government under the National e- Governance plan to provide content, services, information and knowledge to the rural masses at their doorstep for development.
