Mr. Arun Seth is the Non Executive Chairman of India Operations at Alcatel-Lucent, India since May 2011. He worked for the BT Group in India in a variety of positions over 17 years and retired in July 2012 as Non-Executive Chairman. He started as the Managing Director in 1995 and built the company to its current leadership position in managed telecom services. He drove the IT/BPO programs for BT for the last 8 years helping bring it to its current spend of $ 1 Bn working with multiple partners and own captive centres.
He has been on the Executive Committee for NASSCOM for the last 8 years, driving a number of programs like the BPO and Green IT. He had been a board member of Tech Mahindra for 10 years representing BT.
Owing to his keen interest in entrepreneurship, he is a Charter Member of TiE Delhi, is on the Advisory Board for National Entrepreneurship Network and has been part of angel funds and mentors and invests in a number of start-ups in the tech space.
With over 36 years of commercial and technical expertise in the IT /Telecom Industry in India, he is a regular speaker at seminars and conferences.
He is currently on the board of Jubilant Foodworks (Dominos), Cadista Pharmaceuticals (in USA), Centum Learning (a Bharti Group Co.) and Balmer Lawrie (a PSU). He is also on the Advisory board of TERI and TERI University and co-chairs the Business Council for Sustainable Development for TERI.
He is on NGO boards like Helpage India, Katha and India Sponsor Foundation.
An alumnus of IIT Kanpur and IIM Calcutta – he has worked in senior commercial positions in the UB Group, HCL etc.
