FIGHT AGAINST COVID-19

Help support India’s Healthcare system by creating Portable Mini Hospitals – MediCABs

Our national health system is under tremendous pressure due to this new wave of COVID cases and needs massive and immediate support. There is an enormous shortage of clean hospital beds, space, oxygen equipment and basic infrastructure.

We at NASSCOM and NASSCOM Foundation have tied up with the Office of Principal Scientific Advisor (PSA), Govt of India and hope to help the government set up portable mini-hospitals in places of need. The Office of the PSA has shortlisted a unique innovation – MediCAB developed by Modulus – an IIT Madras startup, to rapidly build new mini hospitals.

The MediCABs are rapidly deployable negative pressured cabins that can be set up in open areas or as an extension of the primary hospitals. They are designed with a dedicated zone of Intensive care units – ICUs complete with oxygen pipelines and fixtures where all the life-support devices and medical equipment like ventilators, Oxygen concentrators, etc can be plugged in. A small extension of 20 beds can be created in 10 days, while a 100-bed mini-hospital can be set up in 3 weeks (instead of 2-3 years) at 1/4th the cost.
