Towards building a Disability Confident Organization

Timings: 3:00 pm – 5:30pm

Some of the companies have formulated and identified their niche areas to practice Inclusion. Understanding the strategy and challenges faced by these companies in achieving its inclusion goals, will help others to overcome their challenges. The workshop will have early adopter company, who has hired and retained employees who are Persons with Disabilities, share the need for inclusion, their practices on the following:


a. Evolving an Inclusion Plan for persons with disabilities,
b. Identifying roles, Job Analysis and Description,
c. Sourcing, Recruitment (Interview and selections),
d. Induction, Training
e. Reasonable accommodation,
f. Retention processes and Career Progression, and Policy for sustainable practice


This workshop will be led by ANZ*, Bank of America Continuum India Limited, Scope International who have built strong inclusion practices in the organization. Designed as an interactive session, the companies will elaborate their process and practices, answer queries from participant companies and share tips to demystify hiring and retention of Person with Disabilities.


This workshop will also include ‘Disability sensitization’ by an NGO who actively works, especially skills Persons with Disability. The NGO will explain/demonstrate how persons with Speech and Hearing disability, and persons with Visual Disability, lives and works. This is expected to help companies get a better understanding and be sensitized on the needs of reasonable accommodation when hiring and inducting.

Aarti Kapoor

Aarti Kapoor is the Vice President , Head Migrations and Project Management at Bank of America Continuum India limited(BACI). Aarti has an overall experience of 23 years in Financial Services. She has set up the Disability Action Network (DAN) in BACI in 2011, leading it since then.


Sanjay Purandare

Sanjay Purandare is Senior Counsel – Legal & Company Secretary at ANZ Bengaluru Hub. In his 30 years of overall work experience, he has been with ANZ for more than 11 years. At ANZ Bengaluru Hub, he heads the Legal team and has established himself as a trusted advisor on Labour and Corporate Laws. Additionally, he also leads the Corporate, Sustainability and Diversity (CSD) initiative at ANZ Bengaluru Hub. Under his leadership, the Hub’s Diversity and Inclusion team achieved a milestone of hiring 59 persons with disabilities in the year ending 30 September 2015.
