The Government of India passed the Rights of Persons with Disability Act in December 2016 and have notified the rules for its enactment in June 2017. It is a landmark Act as it is the first time the definition of “establishment” includes private sector as well. All provisions of the Act, except for reservation, applies to the private sector too. However, a number of enterprises are not aware about the major implications of this Act on their environment.
The workshop to provide:
o An understanding of disability, why is it important for the workplace, key statistics, key challenges/myths
o What’s in it for the leaders? Why should they take a note of current and prospective employees with disability?
o What is RPD Act and what are the salient features?
