Uma hails from a small village named Kharra situated in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. Her father was a priest and not always in a position to provide for the family. She completed her 10+2 from a government school near her village. “There were times when we had to struggle for buying even a small notebook or a pencil,” says Uma.
Soon after, she started working as an Insurance agent. During her visits to bank, she realized the importance of computer training. While on a visit to Gurgaon, she learnt about the NDLM course available at the NIIT Foundation Centre and enrolled for the same.
Today she is empowered enough to work in an office and contribute to the family income.
