MyKartavya aims to utilize the strengths of the employees of the IT-BPM industry for assisting NGOs, simultaneously promoting employee engagement through strategic volunteering.
The MyKartavya program connects the industry and her people to a wide range of volunteering opportunities, and also helps manage and evaluate their volunteering efforts. The program aims to promote strategic volunteering to build capacity of NGO professionals, underserved communities and employees of the member companies.
Corporates across the country have realized the ‘business case’ in promoting employee volunteering. Volunteering not only enhances team work and professional competencies but also drives and integrates employee involvement in core business functions. It helps in keeping employees engaged and in improving the reputation of the company both internally and externally. An active employee volunteer program not only injects values of social commitment and responsibility into the culture of the company but also in the lives of the employees and their families.
It does not require a unique degree or prior experience – but only a willingness to help!
Benefits of volunteering for employees:
Volunteering brings a sense of motivation and achievement in the employees as the efforts clearly reflect in the progress of the NGO one gets involved with. It also helps in developing new skills and adding value to one’s profile.
Benefits of volunteering for companies:
Cost-effective platform to implement volunteerism – MyKartavya is an online platform that connects interested employees to internal business responsibility events as well as a wide range of volunteering opportunities with NGOs.

Benefits of volunteering for community:
Decreases costs – Volunteers are extra hands for NGOs who cannot afford to pay employees with heavy salaries.
Freshness and energy – Since most of the volunteer support is project based, the volunteers bring in fresh perspective and energy to the project.
Skills –Volunteers especially the ones that come from corporates bring along immense talent and skills.
Be a Changemaker by donating your skills to the NGOs in need
These are some of our Employee Engagement Activities
The activity involves the distribution of personal hygiene items, related to reproductive & genital health, challenging the social stigma in the society.
The activity involves corporate employees reading books to children in a specific period of time. The books that they read are chosen by the kids.
It involves corporate employees participating in various activities like Guerilla Gardening, Nest – Mania & Clean-A-Thon for nature.
It is a unique concept in which waste and scrap material are used to teach science and mathematics fundamental laws and principles to children with the help of working models.
This is a fun activity in which the corporate employees paint walls. The theme is to create awareness about the solutions to the social issues prevalent in the society.

As a psychology post graduate with experience in the field of content writing and content creation, I was able to help Darbar Sahitya Sansad, an Odisha NGO rebrand their content and create powerful narratives volunteers and those committed to the cause could identify with. I am also working with Sampoorna Swaraj, a Bengaluru based NPO for a CSR proposal as part of the initiative of the NASSCOM Foundation in association with CII. I am thankful to Ms. Bhawna Singh and the team at NASSCOM foundation for giving me a chance to be part of this rewarding and enriching experience.
‘Life is the tapestry woven by the decisions we make .’ Becoming a part of MyKartavya Program and NASSCOM Foundation was the best decision as their urge for the welfare of society and contributing in development of the country is very strong. They provided right volunteer at the right time which helped in completion of the task. The journey for me has been a very smooth one. And this is just the beginning. I want to stay connected with NASSCOM Foundation and continue this partnership.
At Vigyan Vijay Foundation, we had the opportunity of engaging two volunteers from Nasscom Foundation on the task of counselling and mentoring the underprivileged youth for interviews and placements. The team from Nasscom was continuously engaged with us, quite prompt in ensuring that our feedback is valued to ensure smooth implementation as well as maximum benefit from the engagement program. We see this as a great help from Nasscom in facilitating volunteers from reputed institutions and hand-holding, we would surely love to get more help from NASSCOM’s MyKartavya program as well as other great initiatives.
